From the Ground Up
Manual indexing is a very time-consuming, detailed process. Using this method, New Harbor Press will have a professional indexer analyze your entire book to identify and organize main subjects (words) and phrases. From that list and hierarchy, the indexer will then produce the complete index to guide readers to the information they want in your book. New Harbor Press offers this professional service for $3.50 per indexable page. If interested, email publisher@newharborpress.com for more information or to get started.
From Your List
However, if you provide the list of keywords and phrases you’d like indexed in your book, we will convert those into a paginated index at an unbelievable low price. You can create major headings and subheadings simply by indenting words in your list. We will send complete instructions to help you with this step. With this feature, New Harbor Press will organize and create a custom index for your book or provide you with a PDF or text index, if you are producing on your own. We will automatically index all proper names, capital letter words (NASA, COVID, etc.), capitalized phrases (Official Report), and email addresses, so you do not need to include those in your list.
Indexing can be a valuable feature in a non-fiction book, but it can be painstakingly exhausting to track all words to be indexed and accurately reference them in the index. Let New Harbor Press make this the easiest part of publishing your book.
